factory in Europe, the Fábrica Guadalfeo, closed in 2005, but where products such as sugar, honeys and
rum were produced.
Until recently, sugar cane production was a very important part of the local economy, as it had been for
the last 1000 years. La Caleta was the perfect area to produce because of the warm tropical climate and
access to water.
The factory workers started to build their small houses around the factory soon after its opening
creating this beautiful little village where we find this house.

The village of La Caleta has its own bars and grocery shop, and the local bus takes you directly to the
centre of Salobrena. The beach is only a few minutes away and there are many summer concerts in the
Plaza del Lavadero by the sea.
